Beginner kayak course – Evening course (Yellow paddle pass)
A kayak course for beginners who want to become independent paddlers!
This is a kayak course for those who want to take the next step and start developing as a paddler. Maybe you’ve tried kayaking before, or maybe you’ve been paddling for a few years but want to learn the fundamentals. Or perhaps you haven’t paddled at all and want to learn more right away.
In our basic kayak course, we go through the most useful techniques so you can master your kayak and be self-sufficient on the water.
A kayak course where we give you as a beginner plenty of tools for a more enjoyable paddling experience.
Course objectives
After completing the course, you will have enough knowledge to make your own day trips in the protected inner archipelago and smaller lakes. The course corresponds to a yellow paddling pass (EPP 1).

- Carrying a kayak (loaded/unloaded)
- Getting in and out
- Efficient forward paddling
- Sweep stroke
- Reverse stroke
- How to stop
- Steering with the help of rudder
- Balance in the kayak with the help of a low brace
- Those who want to also try peer rescue
Prerequisites
No prior knowledge is required to participate in our basic course. The age limit is 18 years, but participants who are 16 years old can participate with the permission of a parent or guardian, and 14-year-olds are welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
